What causes gout? What are its remedies?

Don't suffer from gout any more. Discover the best gout remedies that work.
Thank you for the question.
Gout is generally caused by the overproduction or underscerection of a chemical called uric acid. Other factors that are poorly understood cause uric acid to deposit in the the synovial cavities of joints and cause a painful, inflammatory arthritis. A high serum uric acid is common, but not necessary, to precipitate an attack of gouty arthritis.
There are classical risk factors for the development of gout: men older than 50; obesity; hypercholesterolemia; kidney faiure; alcohol consumption; and medications (e.g., hydrochlorothiazide). This disease is almost unheard of in young patients. If I see a young (20-30s) patient with a bonafide diagnosis of gout, I immediately think of cancer (e.g., lymphoma, testicular cancer), because cancer cells, by virtue of their rapid growth and turnover rate, produce purines to form DNA during cell replication, thus leading to excessive production of uric acid. By the same token, any patient who is undergoing chemotherapy for cancer (in particular lymphoma and tsesticular cancer), is also vulnerable to gouty arthritis because of the rapid desctruction of cancer cells, which "spill" purines into bloodstream and subsequently get metabolized to uric acid.
The classic point of attack for a first episode is the first metatarsal phlangeal joint of the foot (podagra), but gout can attack any joint in the body (ankle, knee, wrist, fingers, etc.). The diagnosis is confirmed by the finding of monosodium urate crystals under polarized light microscopy obtained from a sample of synovial fluid from a joint cavity aspiration. Gout can also classically produce so-called "rate bite" erosions in bones.
The tradtional treatment of choice for an acute gouty arthritic atack is the use of of so-called nonsteroidal antiinflammtory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen and indomethacin. This would not be a good choice in patient who has pre-existing kidney failure. Another treatment option would be corticosteroids such as oral prednisone or an intr-artioular (inside the joint) injection of a corticosteroid (provided a single large joint is involved and the clinician is confident that an infectious arthritis is not also present). Another medical treatment, colchicine, has falllen out of favor because of its undesirable side effects.
One the acute attack has resolved (usually at day 5-7), decisions can be made to prevent future gouty attacks. If acute flares are freuent, then the clinciacn and the patient may consider a mediction called allopurinol, which works by inhibiting the formation of uric acid in the body. Allopurinol is effective in patients who are either "overproducers" or "undersecretors" of uric acid. Of course, risk factors such as alcohol consumption, obesity, hypercholesterolemia can be modified. To help reduce the chemical precursors or "load" of uric acid, the patient’s diet may be modifed to reduce "purine" intake (i.e., low in red meats).
This is a very common problem in medicine. I see it a lot in my office.

gout comes from a protein build up.. there is some kind of black cherry juice/liquid that many people drink for it
Rich foods and a fatty diet cause it. Go to http://www.WebMD.com for info
Gout is the build up of protein in the blood. It then collects in the joins as crystals and that’s where the pain comes from. The remedy for it is to quit eating high protein foods, like steak. Drink lots of cranberry juice or tea is a natural diuretic and will help you pee out all the extra protein and dissolve the crystals.
No body can tell you what causes gout. It is not known for sure what causes it. Some assumption that are close say that it is triggered by the body itself. The body gets confused, thinking some extenal enemies (like microoganisms) are attcking it. So it reacts, attacking itself. This is called autoimmune disease.
If you eat carotenoid foods (from fruits and vegetables) they enhance the immune system and as a result, the body rectifies itself kind of. The gout is then sent into remission. You can then live a life without the torture of gout. Nutrition is the key.
