Empoyee has gout. Does overtime so he can enjoy his weekends. Usually calls off an hour or two before he is to come in sticking me with his 8 hours. I have complained to the boss at our union shop and he said he got in trouble when he mentioned the above mentioned abuse. I even requested changing shifts to get out of this situation. I work in a 24/7 operation where leaving is not an option. My daughter in law is a D.O. and said with proper diet and medication the gout should not be that big of a problem. please advise, desparate in ohio.

I wanna make sure I don’t get anything that’s not gonna help me. What should I watch out for in health care insurance?
Me: 39, don’t smoke.
Pre-existing conditions:
High Blood Pressure (pre lvl 1 hypertension) Will be able to control this with my new year’s resolution.
Gout (easily controlled with meds and diet.)
L-5 S1 Herniated disc but it’s VERY mild. No surgeon would touch me since it’s not that bad the MRI revealed. It’s not even hampering my work as construction worker nor do I need PT. Sometimes it flares up but it’s not a major issue. That could change but hopefully not. I’m doing swimming/biking and pretty confident I can keep it’s affects on my life to a minimum.
I have 5 prescriptions that I pay cash for that are less than /mo…
Thanks for your help.

Ì’ve been seeing doctors for 3 weeks, first i thought it was the flu and cold. 3 blood tests later, 3 urine samples later. They found a very small amount of blood in my urine. I’ve been taking antibiotics for 4 days now their thinking infection in stomach. I’m not feeling any better, I urinate frequently, super tired and dizzy, dark circles around eyes even though i have had lots of sleep, and when they check my blood pressure it was 148 over something. I have no faith in any of these doctors and looking for any ideas on what the &*%# is wrong. I’ve been off work now for 1 month. I was told my blood work was good. My left foot is a little swollen but I thought it was from Gout. Changed my diet for the blood pressure thing until I can get in on the 26th of Jan.
Sick and tired of being Sick and tired…….

I’m generalizing of course.
Do doctors want to cure you or give you meds to take care of the symptoms (only) and have you come back every few months?
One of my employees (young fellow) has high blood pressure and other health issues. The doctor gave him BP pills. Yes, his BP is now lower. Did the doctor ask him about his lifestyle, diet, weight, smoking? And MAYBE he could lower his BP by changing these bad habits? No, he pulled out the prescription pad. It was a quick fix.
Now, the poor boy had gout probably related to the BP meds, so the doctor gave him pills for that!
In the meantime, my insurance premiums keep rising which affects everyone.
Is this job security for the medical profession? Is alternative medical care a better choice?

I have fibromyalgia (19 yrs), sarcoidosis (1 yr) and kidney infection with gout (2 months). I have been to 3 drs. in the past month and none caught the kidney, gout problem. After many tests, and a MRI and I found the results myself on the internet. Now I’m wondering if the fibro isn’t something else. Two different labs confirmed the sarc. yet it isn’t in my lungs as of yet. I’m so tired of feeling pain and depression. Where do I go from here? One Dr. a specialist at U of M thought most of my pain was in my head! How could he know my pain level unless he could wear it for a day? I’m so humiliated at this point I’m about to give up. I’m following the gout diet protocol and it’s helping slowly. I just don’t know where to go for help that I can trust. Do most Dr’s. distrust their patients?

My Dad is on blood thinner called Cumiden and he is not allowed to have leafy green veggies like broccoli. I know he can have a salad about once a week.
Another problem is that he has a condition called gout. He can no longer eat shellfish and he can rarely eat red meat.
Last, but not least, my dad has high cholesterol. What foods should he eliminate? What foods are good for him to have considering he has all of these conditions?
My Dad is a little overweight and needs help losing weight so his arthritis pain won’t hurt him so much. He also has heart problems hence why he is on blood thinner. It’s nearly impossible for him to exercise…
My Dad used to be a big, strong man. I can’t stand to see him like this anymore… Can someone please help?!
